that's it. Not driver problem. if you have only one card, system shares the ram. if you read the message:
"The context cannot be used anymore and must be destroyed. All existing device memory allocations from this context are invalid and must be reconstructed. -> Failed to deallocate device memory"
It says that's memory problem.What's your gpu/s on your system?

This happened to me once. It was a memory issue (before we got the Titans). I went through and just optimized the scene and all was well

Hi svitadmin,
please attention to first gpu. System and Octane shares their memory. So other gpus can use all memory but first one can't.

Do you have any succes on 1.01?

Yeah. we figured that one out regarding the GPU's, I was just sharing my experience hoping that would help the OP.

I have been rendering a file overnight that led into today. I plan on trying 1.01 again this afternoon. Sorry for the delay

i get loads of crashes on osx and its not the system gpu, its a second gpu.
first i get the render failure, 1 or 2 times i can render again
but sometimes after trying to render again c4d tells me if i really want to abort, because it is already rendering
(what isnt true because i had the render failure pop up before)
then if i click yes… c4d spins forever / crashes.
i cant render / stop / render in picture viewer for 10 times in a row. always the same crashes.

This is very strange as I'm experiencing much more stability on Mac version over PC version. Actually, with 1.00, they are both very stable on our end.

Are you setting your display card to low priority?

Indexofrefraction, that sounds like some setup is wrong. Macos should be very stabile in standart setup. Can you put some crash reports? Are you sure about correction of files?

ok thanks, i'll post a crash report tomorrow… or better via pm?

priority is set to low

i also think about updating nvidia driver…
installed the newest cuda driver now (5.5.28)
but it seems to be impossible to find the mac drivers on the nvidia website
is this one the newest? 313.01.03f02
would be nice to know what drivers you're using…. :-/

are you using Mavericks? If so, do not install a driver. The built in Mavericks driver is super stable with Octane

No, I m on MacOS 10.7.5
Mac Pro 2012 Dual 6core 2.66 / GTX 580 with external PSU
Cuda Driver 5.5.28
GPU Driver 295.10.20f01 ---> this is probably a bit old ? but the newest dont install on 10.7.5

do you guys know a site @ nvidia.com where you can find the drivers / also older versions for osx?
somehow they managed to hide those very well !
