Seems like the current version of Lionel's Blender exporter really doesn't work too well with Octane 1.2?. I've been trying it since 1.2 came out and there seems to be a couple of problems. Material nodes just keep disappearing. For example if I attach a mix node and then 2 glossy nodes to the mix node pins and then save the project. When I open it back up, one of the glossy nodes has gone. If I try to group the nodes and save it then when I rerender the group has completely disappeared. This really is preventing me from using any of the new 1.2? render features.

I don't suppose anyone out there is a python coder who could fix these problems? I'd not even have a clue where to start looking.

I can supply examples if anyone is interested. If anyone has worked out how to get Node Graphs to work and be stable from Blender then please tell me.

Thanks

Totally agree with you, i also was unable to export a simple object rotation animation , so it made this new octane is useless to me.

Glad that we have the blender plugin, but as i don't have the time to re-build and convert all my current projects... setup and materials which have a lot of complex nodes (everything was made up directly in octane standalone).

i feel a little stuck !
i 'm unable to use blender plugin and i'm unable to use the new octane release.
and i suppose that the problem will still remain for the incoming 1.5 release and so on.. :? :o

so HELP, someone, we need a new exporter :D
or PLEASE octane team build a simple offical export plugin for blender !

Is this v1.19 you are using? Most likely some of the Blender python API has been changed. Its a bit annoying how often Campbell does a tidy up and breaks stuff. What are the things you have discovered lately that don't work?

I am using Blender 2.69 and v1.17 of the exporter and it seems to be still working for me. What exactly is the issue you are having? Does someone have the v1.19 of the exporter, Lionel's version? I remember someone was modifing it for a special problem they had and I think they still called it v1.19.

If you save a file in Octane and then open it again, all nodes should still be there. Otherwise there is an issue we need to fix. Can you attach an OCS file which has this problem?

On my side i'm using blender 2.69 and 1.19 exporter which work well since a long time now.

currently we can't use any object layer map for exporting animation, obviously it's not implemented yet
in the script. so we can't use one of the most important stuff from the new 1.2x octane.

secondly as i work on multiple objects from the same blend file, i used to replace one obj by another one, for the animation process i just edit the .ocs file with notepad++ to avoid the meshnode error. this method don't work anymore with the new 1.2x ocs :/

Anyway Would be great to have an updated exporter, for the new features.

it would be great if the plugin supported the octane pano cameras, saving/exporting animation as .abc files would be great.

It is not worth uploading anything, it is so simple to recreate that I can just tell you how to do it.

1. open Blender, default cube will do.
2 setup the Octane render settings
3.start the render
4. setup a material like this
config.JPG
5. Save the project
6. Go back to blender and render again.
7. Now you get this

Sometimes one of the materials still remains. Quite odd.

I am using Lionel's latest 1.2.0 version of the script. I quite remember what the differences between 1.19 and 1.2 are.

Blender 2.69 also. Octane 1.23
