I have a problem when loading a 1.20 project, for some materials a higher level node is created and the material doesn't work, I have to remove that node level, click on the image below (Thanks Rikk for the tool, very useful).

Octane preferences -
I see now we have a 'preferences_v2' file. I guess we an delete the previous preferences file now? Hope so cos I did.
I note that v2 has a different order. The 'recently used' list is now in the middle whereas it used to be at the end.
This makes it even more inconvenient to edit in the event that the file location has changed or it has been deleted altogether.
Something I have asked for for several years now is to automatically remove a file from the list if it cant be found.
Its kind of annoying to have redundant file names in the list. Please can we tackle that sometime just as a user friendly little nicety.

There are some bugs.
The program indicates always that memory is 100% occupied 3072/3072 MB but it renders. So memory monitor is not working correctly.
Sometimes geometry doesn't load completely, polygons missing, solves by reloading the scene or geometry.
Bump node is now where the transmission node should be.
Default location for dayling environment is now on New Zealand which is the opposite of where I am
, it used to be somewhere in France.
Maybe in the program settings we could have the option of the default values for daylight environment.
When I find some more I'll post them.

I confirm that too. MSI afterburner shows correct values of varm usage while Octane hits incorrect 100%.manalokos wrote:The program indicates always that memory is 100% occupied 3072/3072 MB but it renders. So memory monitor is not working correctly.

It seems like the focus distance cant be read from the alembic camera? I have a camera that is exported from maya, and it does not seem to read the animated focus distance value. If I read the alembic back into maya, it has the correct animation on it.
How do I control the focus if using an alembic camera? I have a deadline approaching, so please help!
Thanks

gardeler, many of us (I think) consider ourselves pioneers - who use release candidates in production all the time, without hesitation.. And I am definitely one of those, big-time... But even I would not be using 1.22 if a deadline was looming. That is a recipe for disaster. At this point, 1.22 is more buggy than an Amish cruise-in, from what I can tell. And 1.21/1.22 projects can not be opened in older versions. You are running a pretty big risk here pal. Put down the bong and stop working in 1.22 for a deadline gig!

Ha ha, yes, you are right. It is very risky. But where there are big risks there are also usually a good chance of a great reward if you succeed. In my case that would be making or breaking the deadline.
I think what is important when doing this, is to not point fingers a the software or developers if I would fail. I'm aware of the risks, and I can only blame my self!
But then again, I enjoy battling the on the front of pioneering!
My reward:
read the geometry per frame: 10 min
number of frames to render 500
total read time 83 hrs, or 3,45 days if you like.
I could really use those days on rendering instead!
wish me luck!

Whoa. Hold on a sec... does Alembic completely bypass the need to reload scene on every frame for animations?!!!
If this is the case, somehow, this totally flew under my radar!.. that does make sense... and I could certainly understand your reasoning.. hell, that actually makes it a no-brainer. Onward ho!
