Really ? 2.2 works as well as 2.1 did on my system... lighting seems pretty even (at least with an hdr) and it closes almost instantly even with other applications such as Max, Composite and other stuff running .Proupin wrote:now though, I guess we'll have to wait for a new Octane build, because current is not that useable... it takes ages to close, uneven lighting... ahrm...

0.22 RC1 you mean? last beta release is solid, but for animation you have to use RC1... and I haven't tested it too much, but with all that banding going on I didn't bother too much (on a windows xp x86, fermi 470)nirokugraphic wrote:Really ? 2.2 works as well as 2.1 did on my system... lighting seems pretty even (at least with an hdr) and it closes almost instantly even with other applications such as Max, Composite and other stuff running .Proupin wrote:now though, I guess we'll have to wait for a new Octane build, because current is not that useable... it takes ages to close, uneven lighting... ahrm...

Sorry, yes .22 RC1 . I've not noticed the problems you're experiencing . But this is a discussion for another thread, right ?

yes definetely, but I just was saying the new max export plugin will unleash all its potential on a fully working Octane release

Hi guys. I tried to render animation and got this error. I'm using 3ds max 2009 sp1 x64 on win7 x64. Previously I exported the scene, imported it in octane, set up import units to inches and tweaked materials, saved scene, went back to max where I ran the script, chose existing project, chose resolution, camera, sun dir, pixel samples and hit render animation.
Cheers,

I can't make it happen
I'm trying to set it like in the video but I have the following errors:
On selecting the project path : no spaces in folder name
in your video you do simply select desktop > create a folder and you have a path that goes c:\user etc.. while I keep having the issue specified (using XP to try it out)
On RENDER I have the export going on and soon after the DOS command line goes c:\Program is not a recognized or internal command ......
What can I do to fix it?
3dMax2010 + max2octane_1.022_pre2010

justix:
Try extracting the latest octane to "c:\octane" or some path like that with no space.
I will fix this in next release

Are you loading a project saved in a previous octane release? Did you use max2octane_1.022_pre2010?Previously I exported the scene
justix:
there is a space in your "c:\Program Files", thats why the "no spaces in folder name" messagebox appears. On RENDER I have the export going on and soon after the DOS command line goes c:\Program is not a recognized or internal command ......

Hello
I started new project in beta 2.2 and yes I use max2octane_1.022_pre2010. So, when I choose existing project in max2octane script I'm choosing *.ocs created in beta 2.2 completely.
Thanks, path seems working now, I moved Octane to C:\Octane but now it goes 'Failed to initialize OpenGL extension.. the firs check I did gave me no problemskilaD wrote:n1k:Are you loading a project saved in a previous octane release? justix: You must move all the files, not only octane.exe. Copy the folder instead
