As far as I can tell, yes. I'll keep testing. Thanks for looking into this.radiance wrote:so does a propper model render fine now ?candide wrote:Testing the vertex normals (from Moi and such) - it's much better now, the polygons are shaded, but there's some kind of weird "shadow" appearing under some angles when I move the camera (see pic). It happens with both daylight and environmental lighting. Test obj attached
Minor bug: the render display shows 60/0 MB memory used even though the device manager detects my total memory correctly

I can confirm that the registry fix, i.e., adding the single key=TdrLevel, value=0 to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers allows the pathtracing kernel to work properly for both 1.021 and 1.022 on my laptop with 8600M GT and driver 197.16. You can check that one off your list.

Unfortunately I just noticed the same thing.... my bump map has no influence at all....radiance wrote:seems to work here, can anyone else confirm ?MagnusL3D wrote:Bump doesnt seem to work for me in 2.2 RC1 anyone else confirm ? I've tried several different textures and also did the jump between pathtracing and direct trick to see if that helped but nothing does.

Radiance, I'm testing on the scene I sent you and indeed there is no bump at all after inserting the map file...

we will be adding these to the beta 2.2 installers so in the future they will be always set automatically.Whichway wrote:I can confirm that the registry fix, i.e., adding the single key=TdrLevel, value=0 to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers allows the pathtracing kernel to work properly for both 1.021 and 1.022 on my laptop with 8600M GT and driver 197.16. i'm off to bed guys, worked 14 hours on this today.
need to sleep some times...
in the morning i'll reply to the 200 other problems reported here
we rewrote practically 30% of the renderer for this update so i'm sure there will be much more issues.

Obj exported from Blender appeared to be black when smooth boolean is enabled, but obj exported from other software doesn't have that problem so far.radiance wrote:ok, noted, i will investigate.livuxman wrote:Problem with normals.
In the previous version worked correctly, but now, when load a obj exported from blender, if I have enabled <useSuppliedVertexNormals>, objects with smooth option enabled appear black.
Disabled works well.
I have also seen that when you import a obj soon as you open octane, it occurs to me the stripes like afecelis snapshot, although after change from the initial direct ligth to pathtracing is fixed.
it's best to enable exporting of normals in blender with the HQ option too.

Also when I tried to render a big obj file ~365 mb , Octane's scene navigation doesn't respond at all, but Octane itself is not freezing.
