Hi

I have added some bushes via Forest Pack Pro v. 4.1.2.

When I try to open OctaneRender viewport, 3ds design crashes.

Does anyone know why this happens and have a solution?

Thanks

I had a lot of crashes at render time with forest pack,
if you need scattering functionnality, use multiscatter instead, seems to be more stable.

I have too, I think there is more possibilities than multiscatter.
I can work with it, but it's very... hazardous, one method I used :
put all FPP scattered geometry in a layer and hide it, open the octane viewport,
let render 1 or 2 passes, pause it and block updates, un-hide the layer, update manually the viewport and un-pause render.
for me, it work 50% times.
Hope this can help you.

Hi Dom74

Thanks for your reply.

I deleted the Forest object, and I can't seem to recreate the crash, so now it's ok.

I'll try your tips if it happens again.

Thanks

Not for Jorgernsen, but as general advice: In Forest Pack 4.1.2 we fixed a crashing issue with the Octane material converter, so be sure to use always the latest release.

In any case, we'll be glad to help you in the Forest forum. Don't forget to include minidump file and scene details. If there is some stability problem with Octane, we are primarily interested on fixing it.

Thanks,

You also will get a crash with FPP if you have a vegetation asset in your forest list but not in the scene.
For example you deleted a bush from the scene but it is still in teh FPP object list. This will crash max.

Thanks for reporting the problem. I just identified and fixed the bug, it will included in the next update.
