Hi Paul,
First: absolutely beautiful work thus far on the Rhino plug-in!!!
I cannot figure out how to add an additional multiply function (for a dirt texture) to an existing material.
Is there a way to import this from the stand-alone w/o saving to the Live DB (which I'd rather not do).
(I was able to figure out how to do this in the stand-alone, but not within Rhino.)
Thanks in advance!
Nathan
How to add additional mulitply texture to existing material
Moderator: face_off
Change the "Node Type" in the Node Parameters box to "multiply", then change "Texture1" under the new multiply node to "image" and assign the image map. Yo can even "Copy" the original image node prior to changing it to the "multiply", then "Paste" into "Texture1". Hope that helps.

Thanks for the quick reply, Paul.
Alas, I'm still lost (although I'm fairly comfortable with various render programs (Brazil for Rhino & Modo's renderer)): how do I create an additional (or new) multiply render node within my material in the Octane for Rhino plugin? Actually...how do I create any new render node slot within a material? (When I copy and then paste a node, it is not producing a new render node slot.)
Thanks for any help and sorry for my confusion!

Simply pick the multiply node from the Node Type - and that node node gets added to the material and plugged into the pin you picked.

Hi Paul,
Yes, thanks, I understand (and am using that) function, but is there a way to duplicate the diffuse pin? That way I can duplicate the pin and then add my preferred node (i.e. multiply) to my existing material?
Otherwise, is there a way to save a material in the stand-alone and import it into the Rhino plugin? (I don't want to have to save it to the live DB and import it into Rhino (which works great--thank you!)). Could this function (importing personally saved ocm's (not in the live DB) created in the standalone) be added to the plugin functionality, if it doesn't already exist?
Thank you for your patience
!!!

It's not possible to have two diffuse pins on a material (in Octane Standalone or the plugin). To add your preferred multiply to an existing material, select the material, click the diffuse pin, then change the node type to "multiply". Can you post a screenshot of the Standalone structure you are trying to achieve?but is there a way to duplicate the diffuse pin? That's not (currently) possible, and shouldn't be required. It will be much quicker to edit the material in the Rhino material than Standalone.Otherwise, is there a way to save a material in the stand-alone and import it into the Rhino plugin? Click on your "Diffuse - [color correction]" pin, Copy, then change it to a "multiply", the select "Texture1" of the new multiply an change it to "dirt" and select "Texture2" and Paste.
