I have a 10 story building with some extra details, when I open the Octane render preview, it crashed after converting approximately 3540 objects, is this a limitation or its something I'm missing?

And by the way, Otoy should really tell their programmers to replace the default microsoft visual studio application icon on the top left of the plugin interface

There is no limitation. It should not crash. There is a 10 million polygon limit at the moment - but it should exit gracefully if you reach that. Are you getting an exception, or is Revit terminating? Is it possible to get the scene to me?

Yes, I've been meaning to do this for some time.

This issue has now been resolved. Pls see http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 27#p153727 for details.

Hi Paul,

I have installed the new distribution and tried it on my large scene.

Revit is not crashing anymore, but instead, after voxelization finishes, I get an exception stating that there is not enough memory, although I have increased the number of polygons to 2 millions as you suggested for the scene I have sent to you earlier.

I'm using 2 GTS 450 cards 4 GB of memory each. I set them up to be both active with high priority which I presume is more than enough.

Am I missing something?

Cheers
Samer

Hi Samer

If you post a screenshot of the error message I can confirm it's a video card "out of memory issue" or not.

Are you sure your GTS 450's have 4GB of memory each? That doesn't sound right. The 450 is quite an old card and I couldn't find any reference to them having 4GB. A scene of 20million triangles will need at least 3GB of VRAM.

If you run the plugin on a simple scene, it will give you the scene and memory statistics at the bottom of the viewport. Could you post a screenshot pls. Also, the memory message you are getting on the big scene - can you post a sceenshot of it pls? That would greatly assist me determining exactly what is happening.

Thanks
