I can load the "background image". What does not work correctly?
Compared with the implementations for other plugins I've done for this function, the ArchiCAD one seems to not work quite as well. There seems to be some "noise" at the alpha to non-alpha interfacing areas, and sometimes the alpha of the Octane render seems not quite right. It is very useable, but not to the standard where I would call it "complete".

Hi Paul,
I cannot tell if the "background image" is functioning as it should, becaues I just used once now.
But I am very glad you implemented this feature. That saved me a lot of time.
I previously made a project with different Renderer software and now I had to change one of the objects used in the visual.
I inserted the background image and therefor it was very easy to set my camera exactly the way I wanted to. Then I rendered with alpha on and I just dropped the PNG with alpha in my image software and the job was almost done!
The alpha was perfect rendered on the edges.

The only remark I have so far is that in the OR viewport I can see noise around the alpha edges... but that is not a big deal to my opinion.
Is that what you mean about not being the way it should. Or does it sometimes also render with noise when rendering with alpha using the background image?

Or should it be possible to render with alpha and save it with the Image Background immediately? (not needed I think)

greetings, Jeroen

Hi Jeroen

No, the plugin will not save the background with the render. It is really just designed to assist you get lighting and cameras right, so you can composite in another app (which is what you have been doing).

The "noise" around the edge is an issue which I have not been able to resolve - but it's not a big problem. It seems to go away as you render more samples.

I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with the following:

1.20.1.6
- Added option to clear a loaded background image
- When changing a node pin type to image, floatimage or alphaimage, the file selection dialog is automatically opened
- Fixed potential memory issue when the plugin is first installed
- Pin names now start in upper case, and '_' are displayed as spaces to improve readability
- Removed support for 32 bit (let me know if you are running 32 bit only)

I have found a memory issue which was causing a crash. This has been fixed in the latest build which can be downloaded at the link at the top of this thread.

1.20.1.7
- Fixed memory error causing the plugin to randomly crash
