We are proud to announce the release of the long awaited OctaneRender™ for Softimage plug-in, which fully integrates the OctaneRender™ engine into the modelling environment of Softimage, drastically improving the workflow by making the need to export your scene from Softimage to OctaneRender obsolete.
OctaneRender™ is currently recognized by many industry professionals and 3D graphic visualization artists as the most advanced and fastest GPU-based physically-based render engine with an advanced and flexible node based workflow and user interface. Now, with our new plugin products, you can have the unparalleled quality and ease of use of the fastest physically-based render engine on the market tightly integrated into your 3D modeling and animation software.
This new plugin will provide a fast workflow and rendering pipeline suitable for interactive editing of lights, camera, materials and object placement together with fast final animation rendering output by using Softimage's environment for scene setup.
A license for the OctaneRender for Softimage plugin product alone will cost 99 € while in the initial open beta phase, and 199 € when the final version of the plugin is released. The plugin will require the user to have a valid OctaneRender™ Standalone version installed and activated. If you don't have an OctaneRender license yet, you can purchase both the plugin and the engine/standalone licenses as one bundle during the beta phase for 279 euros. You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Softimage licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.
SOFTIMAGE VERSION REQUIREMENTS
This release requires Softimage 2012, 2013 or 2014, 64 bit (32 bit can be provided if needed) with the latest Service Release applied, on Windows 7.
- The plugin is fully integrated into Softimage like MentalRay or other integrated renderers. - The renderer uses the default Softimage render and preview windows. - Automatic conversion of Softimage materials and geometrys into Octane. - All materials from Octane are available as shaders in the render tree. - Non standard special value shaders for conversation are included. ( Octane Bool, Octane Integer, Octane Scalar, Octane Vector 1D, Octane Vector2D and Octane Vector3D ) - Output pass shaders for postprocessing and imager. - Environment shaders for textur- and daylight-environment. - Daylight environment has the ability to use a object as sun source. - Camera shader with the ability to use a object as focus target. - Ability to change any camera, resolution, environment, imager, kernel or postprocessing setting (as per Octane Standalone). - Individual Cuda devices can be enabled/disable, and the Render Priority set. - The render can be paused, continued and saved. - The preview will automatic update the scene if any is changed, also the timeline. - Render passes. - Override partition materials. - Override materials. - Some special preview information. ( Histogram and advanced render infos ) - Overwrite preview alpha channel as checkboard, red, green or blue. - Debug options. - Subsample rendering from 1x1 to 16x16 with different filters to get a fast preview when setup a scene. - Overall scene scaling. ( Includes spacing of all procedural Octane shaders ) - Option to disable mesh checking to get a fast response when changing the camera on heavy scenes.

Just like OctaneRender Standalone, the Softimage plugin product also needs an OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine. This has to be done in the plugin interface, and is covered in the manual. It can only be done after an OctaneRender Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.
NVIDIA DRIVER REQUIREMENTS
This version requires video driver 301.42 or higher.

Yes, i know the limitations. Want to finish first the instances support, which isn´t simple for me. MentalRay or 3Delight have also some problems with it, especially when you hide some instances. The results you get isn´t was you see...
First i want to finish the basics, then i will implement the specials.
It´s the same with the lights. Octane haven´t lights. I must also convert a light in a geometry, add an emission shader and maybe an ies-file which will be generated from the light settings.
That is a problem from Softimage. The preview windows isn´t designed for the use of an renderer like Octane. It is an Framebuffer error which is stored in the buglist from Autodesk.
You can try to reduce the resolution so they fit without a rescaling in the preview window. You can also disable the "Autofit Viewer" option in the preview window options. Should be enough to setup your scene.
When you render a final pass/image with a high resolution, you will also see this artefacts in the render window. This hasn´t any effect of the rendered images, which are saved from Octane itself. So the results are ok.
That is the background why a viewport is under the planned features list.
Please, apologize me, but i would like to know how to do use the ENVIROMENT physic sun node in xsi. Where i have to attach it? ona sphere around the object? I haven't found the way to use it like in OCTANE standalone. Thank

Here the mainest issue: After the first preview, the scene seem to not refresh. I deleted/moved some mesh, but the render still the previous one even i move camera and so on.
