Yes please, you can try to load the plugin in 11.0 to see what happens.

You can also try to install the plugin from the C: drive ... put the plugin in a folder inside your Lightwave\support\plugins directory and try to add it from this path.

I installed Lightwave3d 11.0.3 win x64 with Octane for LW 0.9.9 beta10 x64,then with Octane for LW 1.20.1 x64 and tried to installed LWOctane.p from C:\Program Files\NewTek\LightWave11.0\support\plugins and got the same result. Lightwave on my computer setup does not want to install the plugin. Here is my screen grab of Lightwave 11.0.3.

Can you please download this custom build and try again, it is for LW11.x x64:
http://render.otoy.com/customerdownload ... LWOctane.p

Really this is a strange problem. I don't know what issue could avoid install the plugin inside LW if both are x64. Do you have other computer where you can try to install it? ... you don't need a GPU on it, any laptop for example could be fine to make the test ... it is only to know if there is something in your system that destroy the plugin install.

Do you have the Visual C++ 2010 SP1 redistributable package installed?
please, download this one ... http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=13523

I tried your custom build LWOctane.p with LW 11.5.1 and got the same result and yes I had
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistribution-10.0.40219 installed.

I will try the plugin on another computer, but I think there is something in my system that is destroying the plugin install.

Yes, please ... try to install the plugin in other computer if possible. I can't image what could be the problem in your system ... both plugin and the demo have been installed in hundreds of computers and we have never seen this problem.

If you can install the plugin in other computer, we are going to be sure that the problem is in your computer to continue thinking about what could be the problem.

Really I am sorry about this issue. I hope that soon we can find the problem and fix it.

One more test ... can you please put the attached vcomp100.dll in your Lightwave/bin directory? ... this is the same lib that Octane Standalone distribute with Octane the package. Usually nobody reports problems with Visual C++ libs after install the redistributable package, but perhaps this is the problem.

One question that comes to my mind ... are you sure that you have the Visual C++ 2010 SP1 redistributable for x64? ... if you download the x86 it is going to be installed in your system without errors, but x64 plugin can't work with it.

In theory failing to load means that your computer is not able to execute the LoadLibrary() in Windows.. There are a couple reasons - too old CPU like Pentium 4 or Athlon XP without SSE2 and plug-in compiled for SSE2 (of course this is not your problem) ... or try to load a 32 bit plug-in on 64 bit LW, or 64 bit plug-in on 32 bit LW (that I think we are sure that this is not the problem).

If plugin needs other .dll files, usually it show a message error in a windows window ... but we can't see any error, only that LW doesn't find plugins in the file, what is very strange.

I installed LW 11.6 with Octane.p for LW 11.6 on my i5 laptop running Windows 8 pro x64 and
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) and I get the same results.

Yes,I had Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) installed on my original
Computer.

I put a copy of the vcomp100.dll in to the Lightwave/bin directory and got the same results.
I tried other plugins that came with the LW install and they loaded up fine. Could Windows 8 pro be the cause?

I have Windows 8 Pro in my laptop and all works without problem ... this is a mystery :(

Do you have other commercial or free plugins installed in your Lightwave, or only the plugins included with LW package?
Is your computer working in English language?
Do you have the same antivirus software in both computers? ... can you disable your antivirus while installing the plugin?

I will send to you a PM with a link to other plugin to test it to know if it works.

I did a fresh install of LW and only using their plugins.

Yes, I am using the English language.

I am only using Windows Defender, should I disable it.
