Can anyone speak to this more? Thinking about this, this may be useful. Basically, it's like making a rectangle shape with your hands and looking at a bigger image through it. Imagine a big image ( 4000*2000 ). With the LensShift parameters, you'll be able to render tiles of, let's say 1000*1000 and composite them in Photoshop. When you shifting the lens, you're not actually moving it so the initial perspective is preserved.
Be sure to check the "vignette" parameters to turn it off completely or compositing the images will be more difficult ( trust me, I didn't think about it at first
