i have windows 64bit

but i use poser 9 32bit (because only poser 9 pro (or 2012 pro) is 64 bit)
The installer will not handle this situation (I had assumed no one would run 32 bit Poser on a 64bit PC - an incorrect assumption).

I will need to split up the installers into 64 and 32 bit versions. I will do this later today.

The installers are now split so you can install the 32bit on a 64bit PC. Pls see the top of this thread for the installer downloads.

Hi Paul,
a question: is it possible, that the Octane settings get lost when a Poser file is stored in a path that contains a '!' sign?
I had some files, that hadn't any Octane info when i opened them again (rendertarget, materials), while others with a clean path seemed to be stored correctly. I replaced the ! with an underscore '_' and that seemed to work, though.

confused,
Uwe

edit to add: PoserPro 2014 that is, didn't try 2012.

Hi Uwe - I tried this on both PP2012 and 2014, and could not reproduce the issue you are having. Suggest you try saving a new scene to a folder with a '!' in it and see if it occurs then. If you /do/ get the problem, pls send me the octaneplugin.log.

I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with...

1.20a4
- You can now rightclick the Settings tree and "Load Background Image" to display an image when kernel->alphachannel is Enabled. The background image is not saved when you save the render, and it is not saved with the Poser scene info - it is intended simply to assist getting the scene lighting and positioning correct for a given background image that will composited after rendering in the plugin. The background image is not "fitted" to the Viewport.
- Fixed minor issue when converting a "mesh" to a "scatter" node whilst the Viewport is open.

OMG a Batch Render option would be heaven. Soooooo tired of being trapped at my computer all day rendering already built scenes. Heck, I'll donate money to your PayPal account to get this feature implemented. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

OK, I checked again, ad it seems to work fine now.
I had the problem with two files I worked on recently, but they now are both saved with the Octane settings. I found an older version of one file and that shows an empty entry:
addonData {"com.physicalc-software.octanerender": {}, "org.snarlygribbly.subdivider": {"preset": []}}
I don't know if that gets stored, too, if you didn't open the plugin at all, though. But I believe I did open it and found the settings missing, that's why I saved the file to a newer copy then.
Very strange, will have an eye on that.

Thanks, Uwe

There are some complications for implementing this.
1) If you started a batch render, you wouldn't be able to use Poser for anything else
2) You could only render one image from each Poser pz3 file during the batch render (ie. you couldn't render an animation)
So it would really only be good for working on 5 scenes during the day, then letting them run overnight. And if something goes wrong, the batch rendering would stop.

There are some options you can do TODAY....
1) Purchase additional video cards. If you get another (690 in your case) card, you effectively halve the time to do each render (assuming you have only one card at the moment). Obviously the economics behind this will be different for each user.
2) Setup a batch render by having a scene to render at each animation frame. So your first frame will be Poser frame 1. Then setup your next scene at frame 2, etc. All frames will need the same figures/props etc, so you might need to hide some things not used in some frames off to the side out of the camera view. Then simply render the animation.
3) Run both PP2012 and PP2014 at the same time. Load a pz3 in PP2014 and start rendering, then work on setting up the next scene on PP2012. Make sure you don't run the plugin on both PP2012 and PP2014, since you run the risk of running out of VRAM.

Actually, that is exactly what I need. Don't need to do animation, just a series of like 50 stills. I don't need to do anything else while it's rendering. I use my laptop for everything else. For me, a batch render would work just fine. I have tried setting up the scenes on the same poser file, using each frame as a still so to speak, but it doesn't work. As it goes to the next frame, it acts like an animation, and the figures V4 move trying to transform from the previous frame like an animation. Unless I am doing something wrong? Maybe I need to delete all key frames? As far as buying another card, LOL, good one. I know that lottery ticket is around here somewhere.

As far as I know there are batch programs out there in that you can record actions to run automatically, i.e open Poser, load a file, render in Octane, close Poser, so you could create a script an let it run unattended. I have no examples, though, sorry, but might be worth further investigation.
