@merid888 :
how you did the background ? is an image ? or all is 3d objects ?
nice renders
Yes, everything is 3D, only the rare visible clouds in the rare blue sky areas seen through trees are photo background.

All trees ands some plants are 3D models, but most of the flowers are crossed textured planes with Alpha (like in video games). all plants textures are png made from photos taken by me and cut out in Photoshop Elements, or renders of fake grass made in Blender with hair particles.

@Cesar :
Hey Roubal, I know how it's hard to make realist environnement and roads, especially when Octane don't support multiple UV and material on same polys... I encourage you to keep it up, the progression is very appreciable !

About the car, maybe the front wheels are a bit too much rotate and seems to turn to the offroad.
It is true that the wheels are actually rotated more than the direction of the road. I did it on purpose, for two reasons : it is a rally, and cars are supposed to be fast, and so it may be necessary to turn more the steering in curves for trajectory correction.

The second reason is linked to the first one : I built my car rig to automatically give a slope of the car body in curves. To keep this effect noticeable enough, I had to turn the wheels. I could have increased the influence of wheels on the body, but the effect of speed wlouldn't be noticeable... so it was a choice. I have hesitated. :roll:

monitor calibration steps
I haven't understood if this is an anwer to me or to other people.

I don't think that it is a matter of monitor calibration on my side, as I see the same colors on 3 different screens, but I see a very big difference between the display of Jpg and the display of bmp or png image.

I think that it is a problem with the way Windows displays the colors. I see no difference between images extension when I display images in ACDSee viewer, but colors are much more saturated for jpg when seen on the forum or Windows preview.

I would like to make more comparison/display tests on line, but unfortunately, the forum doesn't support bmp images.

Below, the same image in jpg and png, for testing : Displayed in small on the forum, on the same page and at the center of the screen with eyes also centered, not much difference in saturation, but the upper image (png) looks darker.

I have built a special page on my site for comparison test with bmp. First image in jpg for the web, second image standard jpg, third image bmp, fourth image png :

http://3d-synthesis.com/59-ColorCalibrationTest.html

On my system, and displayed on the same page, the first image look correct, as well as the bmp and png (desaturated), the second image (jpg) looks more green than the others. All images are saved from the same psd file in which I edited the original png render and added the signature.

EDIT : on my machines, the color difference is more noticeable in Firefox Mozilla than in Internet Explorer.

Tested in Google Chrome : The bmp is darker, the jpg is more green, the png is more yellow.

So, I think that the difference in perception and advices about saturation is due to the different browsers used ! So it is very hard to comply with the taste of everyone, because we don't see all the same thing ! :shock:

One thing is sure : usually, I don't use the "save for the web" function, to allow correct printing or further editing on the jpg if bmp are lost (occured sometimes, and I don't upload the bmp on my ftp). So it is probably the reason of the image colors being read differently according to browsers used.

Added to that, I agree that we may not have all the same monitor settings, but it is not the main concern imho !

As I could one day make a comic book with the adventures of Elisabeth Warfield, I try some filtered renders in that style.

The issue I think is that all versions (except the JPG for web) contain a custom color space, which is only read by some programs and not by others.

Chrome reads the PNG and BMP version correctly.
Firefox only reads the BMP version correctly.
Windows image preview doesn't read any version correctly.
IrfanView and FastStone read all versions correctly.

Thank you Roeland for these informations ! I will try in the future to upload jpeg encoded specially for the web. I will upload as well on my site a low compression (100% quality) jpeg just to keep a better quality image in a safe place.
