Hi all,
Sorry if the question has already been asked, but i didn't find any solution in the forum.
I work on a big scene with millions of polygons.
I want to render a fly through animation, there are no keyframes in the scene except for the camera.
The render could be pretty fast as it's an exterior scene in DL, but on each frame Octane updates the mesh and the voxelizing step takes about ten seconds. On 400 frames it's one hour lost. It's even worse on a Zdepth pass which could be rendered in one second per frame.
Thanks in advance for any solution !
ps: I tested the preview feature but i have the same problem, activating or not the "smart geometry update" option.
Voxelizing during fly through animation

Did you try as in pictures? It's for thatImprodu wrote:Hi all,

Thanks for your replies.
As said, i tried the preview feature but it don't work for me because of the frame step:
In fact, with frame step to 1 the renderer calculates 1 on every two frames.
With frame step to 0 Octane seems to still calculate only the first frame.
Maybe i missed something?

may be a bug. Which version you try?Improdu wrote:Thanks for your replies.

I have currently the 0.3.4 installed.
I'll send you a versionImprodu wrote:I have currently the 0.3.4 installed.

Hi aoktar,
I think there is still a bug with the preview renderer in 0.50 beta C4D R14.
Or maybe it is just me, please could anyone check?
My Project framesettings are set to 25fps.
When I render for example from frame 10-20 with framestep set to 1, it calculates frame 10, then saves filename0010.png
and! filename0011.png (wich are exact the same) and directly skips to frame 12, renders, and saves filename0012.png and filename0013.png.
So it renders only every 2nd frame and then doubles it, when saving.
I believe thats not the way it supposed to work, right?
When setting frame step to 0, it only calculates frame 10... like forever.
Setting frame step to 2, it calculates frame 10, saves to filename0010.png and filename0011.png, then skipping to frame 14 and saving it to
filename0012.png and filename0013.png.
Hope to get this fixed, if it is a bug, or did I miss something? (tried the same with 0.34 and 0.49 with different projects and it is always the same behavior).
Greetings,
ChrisVis

Hi aoktar,
I`ve realised, that I rendered a projekt with preview render where the problem didn`t occur.
Now I found out, that some IES lights with an expresso tag are responsible for the frame skipping.
(I copied it from one of the example scenes, c4d-octane-lighttag-01.c4d)...this was the only ies light that worked out well with realtime preview for me, when moving the light around and changing values).
So when rendering (at frame 3) with preview render, thats what it says in the console, before it skips a frame (from 3 to 5):
Making preview on frame:3/10 done:%82.8 step:1
Making preview on frame:3/10 done:%82.8 step:1

Thank you so far for your fast development, I am really enjoying the plugin, but also having problems like this and sometimes random crashes when doing scene updates with some projects (maybe also because of this ies light issue? - I did not have any crashes with another projekt without ies lights).
