We've been testing octane for quite some time now, and we can't seem to make the bump look correctly.
This is the bump map

The first image was used as a normal bump.

The second image is the same but inverted.
Inverted Bump.jpg
We're getting the same result for both of them and that's not the result we are looking for.
We kind of had the same issue with stone too.

Make sure the you use this image as bump map and not as normal map. And since the bump map has a lot of contrast you need to lower the power of the bump map.

It is used as a bump map and not a Normal map.
Plus we tried to lower the power and it almost gives the same result:
It looks like an imprinted texture rather than a bump.

Is it because we are using the maya Plugin?

Set the power of the texture to 0.0, so the bump map is invisible. Then slowly increase the value until you see the bump map.

A bump map has effect in areas where the brightness of the image changes. If you slightly blur the bump map, there is a small gradient from black to white, and it will be easier to make it more visible.
