Hi aoktar,
I tested the 0.3.0 version with all my 8 GPUs and it is working fine. Also did a quick animation test with the batch renderer of C4D, works well and stable so far.
Most of your sample scenes work, some don`t and crash C4D when I open them and hit the "send to Octane" button.
But I have some questions:
1. Is it possible to import Material nodes from the standalone version or any materials used in the standalone version in any way into the C4D octane? Or do I have to rebuild every material from scratch, until the Live DB is available in the plugin? I have a huge Project with lots of materials added in Octane and want to work along with it in C4D with the plugin now. Any conclusions or workarounds?
2. What do you think when the Live DB will be available?
3. Any glue why the GPU device CUDA Error occurs in the 0.3.4 version?
Greets so far,
ChrisVis

Devs says about error, which a incorrect dll can cause this. libs32/64 files copy manully to main folder of c4dChrisVis wrote:Hi aoktar,

I'm working on livedb, until complete you can check samples materials scene also you can do a personal library for startup
or you can try to converter. Exact time is hard to say. Maybe limited edition can come early

Ahmet,
What is your priority list currently for this plugin?
Also, not sure you saw my note in the announcement thread about the specular material not being created properly from the Material Manager? If I do a "Create > Shader > C4DOctane > Octane Material", and then change it to a specular material the material is broken. If I do a "Create Materials > Octane Specular" from the Live Viewer window the specular material is created correctly.
Thanks again, the plugin is working wonderfully for most other things!

I'm not sure about meaning broken? No default parameters for specular material?

By broken I mean it's not specular after you choose specular from the drop down, it's a glossy black until you change the transmission float value from 0 to 1. Also after setting this none of the other channels change anything in viewport. Roughness/Index/Bump/etc. if any of these values change those changes are not shown in Live Viewer although the material preview in the material editor DOES reflect these changes. Does that make sense? If not I can try and do a quick screen capture movie to show you what I mean.aoktar wrote:first thx.goumz wrote:Ahmet,

Hi Aoktar,
I tested the sample scenes and noticed that the 2nd and 3rd SSS-Madonna-material in the basicmaterial samples are not working, meaning they are not rendered as SSS.
And some questions for my understanding on how your plugin is constructed:
You use an own octane kernel that has no connection to the currently used standalone version of Octane on my system, right ?
So, if I want to render my scene with the most current Octane version, I have to use the old export-plugin that transfers the scene to the standalone octane version.
Second, if I do so, I noticed that the C4D-Octane-materials don't render right in the Standalone Octane version, so the C4D-Octane-materials are not compatible with the 'native' Octane materials or does the old export-plugins fail in transferring the settings as it does not know about the C4d-Ocatane-material ?

you are asking quite much to interconnect the new c4d plugin with the standalone....
for now i guess u have to decide which way you want to work.
for me at least the standalone workflow was never an option
its way to complicated for complex scenes with a lot of changes
hopefully the new c4d plugin will get mature soon
it actually looks like they really put a lot of effort in it, thanks aoktar!!
btw custom material previews are not supported, right?

so it's not broken. Not change to default values of specular only. Actually Opengl previews only support diffuse channel with a few texture type. to set transmission/reflection to a default value is possible.goumz wrote:By broken I mean it's not specular after you choose specular from the drop down, it's a glossy black until you change the transmission float value from 0 to 1.
