Ok, I've replaced the first image with the intermediate version, less contrast but still that deep and dramatic atmosphere
paquito: Well, very simple to combine the images, I render one image with HDR, one with Sunlight and I simply use Gimp with one image per layer and playing with the alpha slider to let the background image overlaping the foreground one until the result is what I expect, I also use the eraser to increase the transparency in some parts. Nothing special as you may guess.
gabrielefx:Yep, displacement would be really welcome

I think its looks excellent!
my only criticism is that I think the rock texture has too much contrast in it - I often see renderings where this is the case, I believe its because of a 'double' up' in shadows by having a photo-texture already with shadowing, being shadowed again in rendering when it is used as a bump/displacement map or displaced mesh. IMO.
Cheers,
Jonathan.

Hi,
Just added two more images ...
jmfowler:Well, the texture I used was quite neutral with few shadows but that's true that sometimes such textures may create weird effect.

Nothing special for the water, simply a normal map in Octane, no displace.Refracty wrote:great, do you create the water with blender?
