+1 I also have the computer hangs
mouse stupor
PMC really slows down the system
I can not run in parallel Skype and other applications

voxelization is very fast, but drop of performance on render on my 2x580GTX (on benchmark ex : 8.24 --> 7.90) test also on my other scene 8.10 --> 7.50). I know that it's a test release !
But I've read that for 6xx GTX, there's and performance increase !
I think that Titan (6xx archi) will also benefit from that !? (I'm waiting mine next week :P )
Which benchmark scene are you using and what (if any) settings have you changed.
Our test here on the benchmark scene here: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7144
(And most other scenes i have been testing with) show a speedup from 1.10 (or even 1.00).
What version are you comparing too?

Thanks
Chris.

Hi Guys,

Here is my results for the benchmark scene (http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7144) for 1.00, 1.10 and 1.11. It would be appreciated if we could get a few people to do this as well to confirm if there is a problem on some setups.
(These scores are with 2x580's).

Direct Lighting: 23.90
PMC no Alpha Shadows: 5.71

1.10

PMC no Alpha Shadows: 5.71

1.11

Could you try GeForce driver 310.90 or 314.07. NVIDIA solved a few problems on multi-GPU setups, maybe that helps.

Thanks for that,
Looks like there are 4 (possibly relevant) things different than my setup, so we could go through them to see what is happening if you would like.
1) You set caustic blur to zero (this doesn't affect the performance during my tests) so not likely the cause.
2) You are running windows 8, i'm on win 7
3) You are running 310.70 drivers, i'm running 314.07
4) Your cards are overclocked.

My bet is that PT in 1.11 just doesn't respond as favorably to overclocking as 1.00 and 1.10.
I will give overclocking a try with mine as best i can and let you know what i find.
It's interesting to note that PT is the only kernel that runs slower for you, and even then, it's performing faster than mine at stock speeds.

Thanks
Chris.

Hi itou31,

I have OC'ed my cards to the same core @ 840/1680 and mem @ 2100,

But i'm not getting the results you are.
Are you sure you have recently download the benchmark scene and haven't played with any max depth or anything like that?
I'm not getting anywhere near 40 for DL unless i drop the specular depth...
Also, even with overclocking, my PT speeds increase from 1.10 to 1.11.

Thanks
Chris.

Hi all,

is X window system still required to use Octane as a render node on Linux?
Fedora 17 | 16 GB RAM | Quadro 4000 | driver = nvidia 304.xx & CUDA 4.0
