0-255 is 8bits RGB
0-1 is 32bits RGB
Just get used ti it.
RGB 0 to 255 please!!!!!!!!!

If you really want to use the values you've set on another software to Octane, why don't you just divide these by 255...?

In photoshop "RGB 32 Bit" you have the possibility to change the color 0 to 255.
values automatically exchange 32 bit or otherwise. if you can have the possibility to have the same thing in octane, it would be a +. This avoids wasting time going through other software.

THANKS

I already use HEX is not practical, if it can be done directly on octane is still easier!!!
I think the opportunity to have input selection values in 32-bit or 8 bit, the software automatically converted.

For my own, I use Babelfish RGB, an HTML converter using Javascript. I seems to be no more available on the website of its creator, though.
Edit : I have just sent an E-mail to the author Thorsten Schlüter to know the license conditions about this tool, as there is no information in the script itself.
I will let you know if I have an answer.

An optional 8 bit color field instead of the 32bit values may be a good idea for some cases but it should in no way replace 32bit colors that would be just stupid.
So +1 for an option to enable an 8bit color mode that automatically calculates the correct 32bit value in the background OR simple math functions for all numerical input fields. I would prever the latter.
Or maybe implent both, would definitely improve usability for some use cases.

Yep I think that simple math functions node for numerical values should be a great update !

Converting between hex and rgb etc is child's-play... whether in C++, JavaScript... less than 10 lines of code, if I remember correctly...
This should be a non-brainer...
As a matter of fact, I think more than a couple settings could be good candidates for having a toggle - between showing values in format A OR format B... or maybe choose this in prefs.. really, you should be able to switch between Meters and Feet/Inches at will.. and likewise for many other settings. This really can not be that tough. Conversions are some of the simplest stuff in programming. Of course, the interface needs to adjust to the different numbers/values.. and that is some work... but still...

Hi ! I got a nice response from Thorsten Schlüter, the author of RGB Babelfish , and he has just put back his color value converter on his website :
http://www.thoro.de/page/misc-en
The converter is an htm file (similar as html) and can be downloaded by right click on the mouse on the page.
I hope you will like it. It is the simplest and most complete converter I found.
Philippe.
