Hi,
I imported an OBJ-File with transparencies for glass, e.g. windows in a house. In the MTL file, e.g. there are lines like "Kd 0.1882353 0.101960786 0.011764706".
Octane 1.0RC3 on a Geforce GTX660 does not show any transparency. So all windows look like metal boards.
I'm quite new to the topic and to octane and looked around a little bit but found only a thread a year ago:
http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10636
Do I something wrong?
How to make glass transparent?
Best regards,
Jerry
Transparency missing with OBJ-import on 1.0RC3

you need to set it up in Octane, not your modeling package (I guess some exporters will do it, but I woudn't trust it). Also, it might just be your render kernel, if you
what type of material are you using?
try setting your render kernel to Path tracing or PMC.
Overall, best to set up everything in Octane.

thanks for your quick answer!
I didn't get it completely.
The switch of the kernel is irrelevant, on all kernels there is no opacity.
In the MTL-File, the object looks like this:
newmtl Tour_Fenetre_344
illum 2
Ka 0.1882353 0.101960786 0.011764706
Kd 0.1882353 0.101960786 0.011764706
Ks 0.46875 0.46875 0.46875
Ns 60.0
And in octane, if I click on the object, opacity/floattexture, it is set to 1.000.
If I reduce this value, the window is getting translucent and everything is fine.
Anyway, it is pretty annoying to do this everytime I import an OBJ-File. I can not understand why the values from the MTL are not used? Is it a bug or did I understand something wrong?
Thanks, Jerry

ok, so then I will wait for a bugfix. Approximately, I am not the only one who uses glass objects in an OBJ-file.
Can I find release notes somewhere to see if the problem is fixed in a future version?
Thanks for the quick answer!
