see where it says "7999 samples per pixel of 8000" it was then continuing to says this indefinitely without moving onto the next frame.
No, I speak EXACTLY about the warning "Octane: rendering has stopped at 7999 spp (from 8000)" in this NEW version. Do you see it somewhere in Octane output starting from second frame?

oh sorry I misunderstood you - I'm not sure if the message was there and I have already closed the command shell, I'll set off another render again in a few hours ( I have a meeting with a client very shortly) and screen shot the messages between frames.

the 580 + 680's are on my working computer and I need to get some work done before my meeting.

HELP! HELP! HELP! :o :o :o

I just installed Maya 2013 Service Pack 2, clean install, default preference, etc.
Installed Octane Plugin 3.03f
NOTHING WORKS!!! MAYA KEEP FREEZING AS SOON AS I TRY TO RENDER OR EVEN ASSIGN A MATERIAL!!!

I tried the scene I'm working on -> Maya freezes
I tried a test scene I made, with just some spheres -> Maya freezes
I tried creating a brand new scene, with just a cube, octane camera, octane sky and assigned a octane diffuse material to the cube. Click render -> Maya freezes

I don't know what to do, my work depends on this!!! :o

HEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!

Is there anything in service pack 2 that you need? If not I'd roll back to the version you were using and get the urgent job out.

I updated to SP2 because I'm having issues with Maya 2013, like almost every day, when I start it, it resets to default setting, it crashes a lot, etc... (I really HATE Maya, but I must use it for work :( )
I'm about to uninstall it and reinstall the DVD version, but people should be aware that the Octane plugin doesn't work with SP2... :|

Check your script editor, does it give an error to do with geometry? In this version you cannot have duplicate geometry names due to the active render update that is now implemented. There is a button on the Octane shelf (the icon is a big U) that will rename all your geo for you before you start to render.

EDIT: it's been like this since 3.03d in case you had tried that as a previous version of the Octane plugin.

OMG, I found the problem.. I can't believe this...
Basically, when you uninstall Maya (yes, because to upgrade to SP2 I had to uninstall the other version first), it also DE-ACTIVATE the Octane License... :| The problem is the plugin does NOT tell you that you have to re-activate, it just load and than freezes without any error...
I'm trying again the SP2 version, I'm pretty confident that this time will work, the only thing I have to do is to re-activate the Octane plugin... :?

I'll let you know how it goes...
