Hello,

could someone please summarize the workflow to export a DAZ 3D animation to Octane? I saw the Demo videos, but I cannot find any info on the topic.
What I want is to create a scene and animate the characters in Daz, and then render the whole animation in octane.

I know it doesn't work with the demo version, but I would like to know before I make the purchase.

Thanks!

Hi Kzamor,

The exporter script/plugin for daz is developed by a community member and as far as i have seen the workflow for animations would be limited.
The exporter will help you get a daz scene into octanerender standalone (exports .obj file and various other settings), but i don't believe there is automation for animation.
I'm not a Daz user but as far as i can see from the current exporter script you would need to export each frame to octane manually. This is not necessarily practical.

Hopefully someone with more daz experience or the plugin developer will also respond.

Cheers
Chris.

Animation is definately supported. Anything you can animate in DAZ (physical movement or morph not texture animation) will transfer to Octane.
Have you not seen Mec4D aniamtion with character performing complex movement based on Aniblocks and bvh.

Tugpsx: Yes, this is the video I was referring to. What I need to know is the workflow. If I have to export every frame manually, it is a no-go for me.

If I set parameters in Daz, send the whole thing to Octane, texture and click render to render the whole animation unattended, it is better.

Could you please summarize the steps required, once everything is ready in Daz and you are ready to render the animation?

Thanks!

The released forum beta version does not have animation. She is testing newer version with animation and more.

Actually I did not had to edit anything in Octane after exporting more that 1 first scene for the light setting , all other scenes was followed the light setting so that was pretty easy and beside anything I did not even used genesis in DS but the older gen4 base model with my character for this test that as you see come out not bad as for first time .. ;)

Sneak peek.
Render options will be available using Shift+Ctl+R to access the menu options
To render in Octane simply Ctl+R
For Animation you have to set in render option and if you do not select image sequence, the plugin will automatically prompt you for codec and create your movie instead of image sequence you could further edit.
