I thought about it.
I've decided.
I leave stationary objects

Bye
IMHO, that is not a very good solution.RayTracey wrote:That's where the plug-ins come into play. I agree. Otoy does not need to re-invent Maya, but being able to select & move objects easily (rotate / translate / scale manipulator) should be considered. This is especially important for light sources (emitters, IES), since those are the objects that artists tweak very frequently. Without this option Octane will be only half-interactive.GeoPappas wrote: IMO, the ability to move objects within a renderer is extremely important. Please reconsider adding a way to manually manipulate objects via the mouse and keyboard.

First, my understanding is that there are only one or two plugins available at the moment (3DS Max and Maya).
Second, even when all of the plugins are finally finished, there will still be many modelling apps for which there will be no plugin. It is my understanding that there are only one or two other plugins under development (Softimage and DAZ).
Third, it is my understanding that the plugins are not directly developed (or supported) by Refractive/Otoy. That is, they are developed and supported by third party developers. So it is entirely possible that some of the plugins might stop development at some point.

With the latest build its possible to manipulate an "object" (more precisely: a pile of geometry), if its mesh is imported separately, but this is not the way to go. A data exchange format between a 3D app & Octane standalone should include the logic of objects.
