With all new APIs popping up (Vulkan, directx RT...) and Octane being an unbiased renderer I simply wonder if we are moving towards a more biased version of Octane? Reading about Nvidias new 20XX series and listening to various ppl talking about it I get the impression that the price for real time performance still comes with the penalty of having to mix RT and rasterization(fake) technologies. I really hope this is not the case cause the reason I use Octane is it's ability to render really good photo realistic images without to much tweaking.

So, where are we going?
How does brigade fit into all of this?
Can anyone from Otoy shed some light here?

Thanks!

I am also interested in hearing more about Brigade and it's usability from OTOY. I understand it's NOT using rasterization, but instead it uses real-time Path Tracing at 30-60 fps. I would like to know more about the trade-offs and benefits. How is this integrated into Octane? is it added to the rendering cores list, like PMC, Direct Light, Path Tracing, and Brigade?

Yes. I prefer unbiased because OR is to close to the real life at TRUE caustics on our sun but rendering during many hours or few days ;) but very good news: NVIDIA RTX cards with new "RT core" help for reduce much, much the render time at PMC (and new PPM = Progressive Photon Mapping) kernel in next year. :D
