With many thanks to Jimstar and team, finally pushing forward the maxscript compatibility.
I have now updated my shortcuts script for max.
The script has been rewritten for the OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2.23.2 - 2.2 [TEST] And tested with 3Ds Max 2016.
With the new update It's now much more effective and will speed up your workflow.
Since it isn't practical to put all buttons on one UI, I focused on the settings I used most.
Check the below image for better understanding NEW UPDATE v4.3
What is new :
- Fixed a fatal script error causing crash at start if you change the Aperture or Exposure or Gamma settings and if the render dialog window is closed.
- Some other internal scripting fixes.
NEW UPDATE v4.2
What is new :
- Initial Library is now set as Max2014 compatible. Making it work with both Max 2015 and 2016.
Please make sure you copy the Scene_HdriV4.mat supplied with the file in C:\OctaneShortcuts
- Added a new button. Making it able to set Octane viewport to 1/10th of the production VFB size
- Now the script works with 2014, 2015 and 2016
- You can download the new version from the link below.
Lastly, I'd like to thank Jorgensen making a generous donation. Next time beer rounds are on me, mate. Cheers.

What is new :
- You can now toggle Clay mode, Alpha Channel, Premultiply Alpha Chan and Viewport Background with a single click.
Using Checkbuttons will also let you see if these settings are enabled at that point or not.
- Also you can adjust the Aperture, Exposure and Gamma setting on the fly. they work without a lag.
And update the value to the render settings once you let go of your mouse button. There is a bit of a lag once you make changes in these values.
Because it updates the scene render dialog box. If you close the Render Setup window there'll be no lags.
- Another great thing about it is that you can now set the Octane viewport size to equal/half/quarter size of the production render size, instantly.
Which I thing it's great when dealing with large scenes.
- I dropped the support for creating targeted IES lights. Because there are issues that needs to be addressed with the core of standalone and also max plugin.
So once the targeted IES lights are introduced. I'll add a button for it.
All other buttons are pretty straight forward. And you'll get used to it in no time.
There are few changes in the installation of the script.
Now the necessary files (like HDRI's and mat. lib. and script logo ) has to be copied to C:\OctaneShortcuts
To install the script Just drag and drop the Mzp file to your max viewport.
Then assign the script to the toolbar you like.
Please read the readme file I attached.
I would recommend you restart max after you install the script.
One last thing. At first I've been creating this script for myself only. Now since I've been sharing this with you, I tend to write this with caution and error free.
So if you care to buy me a beer or two or want to support me. I would say no if you want to donate me.
