Hi I'm using cryptomatte with Houdini (17.5) and octane (2019). It works perfect in Nuke, but in Fusion it doenst. (other engines like arnold and redshift are behaving more consistent, opening the same .exr file in both compositing applications)
There are specific settings in the C4D + Octane ...

Re: Octane in Houdini not rendering frame sequence
Fixed, "Override Mplay Frame" was still turned on in the ROP node.
No idea why this seems to be the default in Octane.

Octane in Houdini not rendering frame sequence
Hi There,
I have a frame range set in my animation.
Plus I have "Rendering mode" set to "Full Scene Reload"
The file name is just "test3_$F.EXR"
BUt it doesnt render my animation, just one frame.
Anybody any ideas?
PS might be relevant, it is rendering an animated alembic file, one that plays ...

I just purchased octane for Houdini as well, and the last stable version is 15.5. (we don't use that anymore)

Larger material database
With so many more users nowadays, can Otoy do something to encourage users adding shaders to the material database?
Our material database is still small compared to the maxwell render and vray database.
Can there things be done to make it reasier for users to upload their own shaders to the ...

Re: Shadow pass in Octane V3 (C4D)
This looks usefull unsergio!
Still a lot of things to forget when in production (but we might use the take manager for that)
At least it looks like a decent shadow pass.
Thanks for the post.

Re: Shadow pass in Octane V3 (C4D)
In Vray and Arnold they often reverse the black and white data in the shadow pass (or matte shadow pass as it is called in vray)

Re: Shadow pass in Octane V3 (C4D)
Because compositors don't need extra data in the shadow pass. Only shadows.
no colors, no reflections etc. (otherwise it's not an shadow pass)
I did not yet find a way to do this in Octane. It could be that i'm missing something.
Like in the next example (image nr 6 on the left)
That's a shadow ...

Re: Shadow pass in Octane V3 (C4D)
Yes this was an image from the file I received above.
Like i said in my post, when i use the "matte" checkbox in the ground material, the shadows stop working alltogether.
