This minor update just introduces two new features. The first is some people have been reporting problems getting Octane to start when exporting from the newer Rhino V5 betas. This exporter includes a new command, OctaneExportMeshes which will let you choose where to stick your OBJ, then will print on the command line a string you can use to launch Octane with the camera and target positions that you are using in the current viewport.

This version also now has the option (under OctaneOptions) to not export Rhino camera up vector (this should now be off by default, so if you liked it you are going to have to turn it back on).

Let me know if you have problems,
Sam

Sam! Your the man!!! Thanks for your Rhino exporter efforts. I use it a lot and have done some fine rendering work in Octane and so appreciate having the tools to do so.

Mmm, lovely. How many video cards do you have in the machine you are getting this error on?

Also, can you look to see if you have this file:

Win7 / Vista:
C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\OctaneExport\exportOptions.ini

Win XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Application Data \OctaneExport\exportOptions.ini

If you do, can you post the contents?

Thanks,
Sam

There is no file under C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\OctaneExport
Thanks.
I am using Rhino4 SR9.

I have a question:
You can export various positions of camera?
if I want to update the obj file in octane (updated model, different camera...), what happens to other "cameras" position?.

I try to reload obj whit different cameras position but the render, but the render keeps the initial position! what i wrong? How do I upload different position of camera without re-rendering all?

Thanks a lot

Hi Sam, i get this strange Error in V5, exportOptions.ini looks like this:

Path=C:\Program Files\Refractive Software\OctaneRender 1.025 beta2.52\Octane.exe
nSamples=0
bRenderOnStart=True
card=;False
bCamTilt=False

any idea?

thanks for your great work! Steffen

Thanky for the good work Sam.
It would be very cool to have a export all "named views to ocs. cameras" option.

Sorry for the lack of replies. It is looking like the errora are cropping up in the VBscripting engine itself. McNeel is still trying to hammer this one out. The obvious solution is to rewrite it using a different language, which should probably be done, it is just a mater of finding the time at the moment.
