Hi,

its been a while since radiance announced availability for SDK/API in this thread: http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... f=7&t=8078

Honestly I don´t have any idea what that really means, but I understand that it offers the chance to build something like a plugin to use octane as a kind of "native" renderer from within Rhino. Is that correct?

I thought McNeel should be enthusiastic about that and wrote an e-mail to them. But I didn´t receive an answer at all. I suppose they do have enough trouble getting Rhino 5 finished ;) (plus they offer renderers themselves of course).

So, does anybody have an idea or the skills to get that job done? I assume there should be quite a number of people out there, that would even pay some bucks for a plugin like that.

Cheers

Hi Stiwi,
I am in contact with McNeel concerning this issue. They are aware of Octane and the SDK announcement.
There are potential developers interested in developing but McNeel can only assist.
I am sure Refractive Software knows that there are many interested people out there especially because unbiased renderings make much sense for Industrial Designers, Interior D. and Architects who use Rhino more and more.

Hi Refracty,

thanks for your answer. Good to hear that the issue is taken care of. We all know, that the guys at RS are extremely fast and do an amazing job, but I´m afraid, that this subject isn´t No. 1 on the list, is it?

Hi,
I don't know you what kind of priority comes after the Max plugin but the development has started parallel do develope the Plugins for the different apps.
The fact that potentional developer, demand and support from McNeel comes together is the best condition to produce this Rhino Plug In fast. But we can only hope that this will come very soon.

An integrated Rhino Plugin would have saved me days or weeks of work for the job that I am doing atm.

It is always a good thing to post about your need for a Rhino Plugin like Stiwi has done here. Then RS will know about the high demand.
