I am at my wits end with how to fix my licensing issues with Octane. Since I bought Octane last January I've never been able to get consistent license activation on my Windows 7 machine. I've eagerly awaited every release to see if that release would fix my problems but none have.
Previously, I could activate my license and then run Octane, but once I closed Octane and tried to restart it would say my machine wasn't licensed. As of the last release, I can now run it somewhat consistently but with a hitch. I use the unofficial blender exporter to render my scene files, if I use that and then export my Scene to Octane. When Octane starts via Blender, I activate my license and it lets me in. I can keep exporting through blender and Octane will MOST (not all) the time open without any activation headaches. But if I just run the Octane.exe without going through blender, I am denied every time. But go back to blender after being denied, and run through blender, it works.
I've only ever installed my license on one machine, which is my laptop with an Nvidia card. It's NEVER been on another computer, even though the activation tells me it's licensed on another machine.
I've done the following to try and fix my issues:
1. search everywhere on the forum for help
2. posted previous requests on this forum for help
3. Updated to the latest and greatest build each time one is released
4. Tried NOT using blender files/scenes but using Cinema 4d, Vue and Maya scene files
5. Updated the unofficial blender plugin after each release, tried just exporting OBJ files without using a plugin.
6. Triple checked all firewall settings
7. Used multiple different internet access points to see if that was the problem
8. Completely wiped my computer clean and did a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit installing Octane first and trying to activate it
In the 8 months since I've bought Octane, I've spent more time trying to actually get it recognize that I've paid for a license than I have actually rendering with it. I can't even begin to explain how much of a bummer this is. This complete lack of reliability caused only by the licensing issues, is ridiculous. For me, it makes Octane just a toy to play with when I have time and not a viable solution for any production work.
Can anyone from Octane give me any kind of help to try and get this working correctly. The software works greats, the licensing system is the most unreliable and most restrictive I have ever experienced with any software, ever. I would be really appreciative!

"%APPDATA%\Refractive Software" (just copy this exact path without the quotes to your windows explorer adress bar and hit enter)
here (in your user account) is your license stored - or should be - along with preferences and the default scene. the license file should show look this: "octane_render_v1_live_account" and is created once octane is activated (and normally never touched again). it may be a UAC problem or a problem with the user account.
you may also test if it is possible to save a new default scene (just open octane, add any node and under file click "save as default") - so the next time octane opens, this new and changed default scene should remain. if it isn't, octane cannot access this folder, or the informations stored there get lost somehow...

Does this happen when you sign on again immediately after signing off? Other than blender, are you running other applications between sign ons? What is the setup of your machine's user permissions? Is it possible that you are running the installer (from the shortcut) rather than the installed octane render executable? We will also check the license and your OctaneLive account and see if everything is in order there.
Hopefully you don't mind the few questions above in relation to this, we are going to examine a few possible scenarios and narrow them down. We might even try to replicate it on one of our testing stations. It would also help if you can take a screenshot of the error and forward it to us.
Cheers...
