I don't understand why not Octane customers can add discussions and spam messages on this forum.

For example I'm subscribed on RandomControl forum and I can't post messages because I haven't purchased yet the software, this is right.

The same is valid on Chaos forum, I'm a customer and I can post messages, I'm not: I can't.

Please administrator, change the rules of this forum.

Thanks.

i understand and appreciate that non-customers can post too. there are always some people interested in the product, trying the demo, having questions... and it's just a good idea to help them!

as we already have some forum mods, a change of posting rules may be in a way, that only the 1st post needs to be approved by a mod. this would also filter out the whole spam crap...

The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

I think it would be a good rule if the first post of a non-customer post has to be approved by an admin.
Lets hope for the new website comming soon.

i wouldn't expect a new site in the near future ;) just recall what the folks are currently working on: sss, instancing, voxelizing improvement, full max integration, a complete sdk, api documentation, dealing with urging plugin developers, legal stuff therefore, compensating marcus' leave, ... surly a shiny new website & forum is not at the top of this list ;)

but i'm going to ask radiance if he adds me to the mods; i frequent the forum quite regular and often and do often stumble about some fresh meat, um, stinky spam...

i'm currently trying to build a yahoo "pipe" to create a rss feed, consisting only of unanswered posts in the open section - this should catch all spammers - and by using the feed via a desktop app/etc. (what i'm doing already for other feeds) it'll allow a fast response...

All you need is additional second "captcha" like protection for the phpbb forum. I designed a web-site in august with phpBB forum and in 5 days i had like 120 bots so i added additional protection when registering. For 3 months i have not seen a single bot to register or spam on my forum... If you need the help with it i can show you how to implement it ( simple drag to order 6 numbers)
