What is the deal with this license unlocks

So today i needed to do something on my older computer. Later, i moved back to the current machine and when trying to start Octane, it would say i am out of available licenses or something along the line. I tried to sign-out and in, but the issue would persist. Ultimately i have to resolve it through the OTOY page and that unlock button - but as a result i am down to single unlock now and have no clue whats gonna happen if i ever run out of them.

I dont understand what even this system is in the first place. I used Octane since its beginnings, used single license at home and at office, and for years it worked just fine - used it at work, came home, continued from there, then on another day, back in work... did not even need to sign-out anywhere. Everything worked like charm. So why this downgrade to user convenience?

This could happen if you use an old version with old activation system, then go back to a new OctaneRender version.

Anyway, the web counter will be rest to maximum after a certain period of time, if the unlock button will not be used during that time.

And you can always contact the support at help at otoy dot com asking for a reset of the unlocks.
