Starting from Octane 2024, It stopped recording Premultiplied Alfa in PSD, PSD and TIF Beauty layer. It writes to PNG from the same file as before.
That is, in PNG I get a file with a transparent background in the right places, if the glass is semi-translucent, then the alpha will be appropriate. And in PSD and others— the beauty layer is just on a black background, the alpha is nowhere to be found. At the same time, alpha is present only in the Denoise Beauty layer.

Strictly for awareness purposes: PNG and "premultiplied alpha" in the same sentence is considered an oxymoron; the two are mistakenly and often interchangeably used together when they shouldn't.
Regarding what is suspected to be a "bug", providing a simplified demo file is recommended. The complete bug-report-guidelines are in red on every forum thread or here.
Octane Standalone supports TIFF export and is operational in that regard (tested in 2024 and 2025.1 beta 1 which is not the latest).

Maybe I didn't explain it correctly.
That's what I mean.

TIFF file is missing.
Although the issue is reportedly present in both PSD and TIFF, each format is uniquely programmed and each require its own trouble-solving and check-ups.
TIFF is also an established, near quintessential (at least exemplary in some aspects), format. Whereas .PSD and .PNG as render output are factually the opposite.
Hence the importance in providing the TIFF file for inspection (assuming the render settings and export are all "correct").

If so, Aoktar would be best suited to confirm.

One or several of these 4 points could cause issues, if it's none of them, it could indicate a bug on the core or plug-in.1. OpenEXR or TIFF
2. Set to associated alpha (colloquially known as "premultiplied")
3. Alpha channel enabled (in Octane: Kernel Render Settings)
4. A “post software” capable of properly handling associated EXR / TIFF encoding specification (i.e. associated)
If so, Aoktar would be best suited to confirm.

Blank test project file In Octane Standalone 2025.a beta 1, the TIFF results are as expected (working, no issue whatsoever).
Exporting the Cinema4D project file as ORBX to import in Standalone for testing purposes would be informative. It would double-confirmed the issue is C4D Octane related.
TIFF, ORBX files attached, as well as a screen grab of the "Affect Alpha" for the opacity to be present through the glass (Specular) material.

The TIFF file coincidently missing, attached under this reply. This render export is without the "Affect Alpha" checked out.
Edit: the forum is seemingly not supporting tiff file upload. Compressed as ZIP instead.

YES! I think you're kidding me. I asked a question specifically about C4d Octane, not about Standalone. Especially not about the beta version Standalone. I hope you'll fix the problems of recording alpha in TIF and PSD in the C4d Octane in the next update. Thanks for the helpful advice about ORBX.skientia wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 2:15 pm Blank test project file In Octane Standalone 2025.a beta 1, the TIFF results are as expected (working, no issue whatsoever).

This is a standard and universal procedure.
Even if an issue or bug is experienced within a plugin, Standalone being Octane Core will confirm to the dev-team at which level the problem is at (Core or plugins, since both are two different teams). Routine trouble solving process.
Developers require as much information in order to "help them build a case" and "pinpoint the issue".
This is specified in red text on all the dev-build sub-forums.
As of now, more than enough information should be available for Aoktar to check and locate the problem.
Correction: 2025 beta and the official 2025 release; neither have this issue.
