Can't install latest Octane plugin for C4D 2024.0.0

Every time I try to install the plugin, I replace the folder of my current install with the newest one, but the error is, "several plugins used in this project are missing"". I've tried multiple versions all the way down to 2023.x.x and none of them are recognised. The live viewer window just says, "plugin not found", and the Octane menu item doesn't appear in the main menu.

Is there a step I'm missing, I just thought you had to drop the folder into the plugins folder?
