I've noticed in both 29.15 and 29.16 that the 3D Viewport continues rendering samples past the Max Samples limit set in the kernal settings when looking through the Camera Perspective.
It does hit the limit when looking through the User Perspective, however.

Update: Now it's working correctly, I'm not sure exactly what I changed while working on the scene and ignoring the issue. It's possible Octane wanted me to switch cameras and return to the original one or something, but now it seems to respect the Max Preview Samples.
