modo pass groups with octane causing immediate crash

I posted this on discord as well - I have been fighting this issue forever - I use the pass groups feature in Modo, where I create a pass group, then create multiple passes to store variations of a rendering - hitting the apply button while octane is rendering causes modo to crash instantly - sometimes. I was going to upload a file but I cannot get any one particular file to repeat the problem - its very common but I can get it to repeat predictably. I reported this issue years ago and for awhile it seemed to be gone - also hitting the apply button when saving a new pass causes octane to reset the sample count to 1 and starts all over again. I have not tried modo 17, but I have experienced this issue with all prior versions of modo and octane. I am at a loss and this is a big deal - it totally kills the workflow to completely stop the render just to save a pass. not sure what to do.

Apologies for the late reply. Was this the issue that was fixed by rolling back to Nvidia Driver 552.22?

it must not be in my case - I am using driver 551.23 - I will try 552.22 and see how it goes - but this problem came up and was noted as fixed a number of versions ago - and it seemed like it was fixed for sometime - I will test out the driver - thank you.
