hi
I m rendering a solid glass panel ,but there are many ragged streaks at glass edges ,I tried increase specular depth from 16 to 32 ,but it made those streaks from black to bright only can not remove them. please refer attached pictures

Hi,

Those ragged streaks at the edges are usually caused by insufficient ray depth or sampling issues rather than just specular depth. A few things you could try:
  • Increase reflection/refraction depth – Make sure both reflection and refraction ray limits are high enough, not just specular depth. For glass, you often need at least 8–12 refraction bounces.
  • Increase sampling/anti-aliasing – Low samples can cause noisy streaks, especially at edges. Try raising the render samples or using adaptive sampling.
  • Check geometry and normals – Sometimes overlapping faces or inconsistent normals at the edges cause artifacts in glass. Make sure your mesh is clean.
  • Use a thicker glass shader – Very thin glass can exaggerate streaks due to light path issues; adding a tiny thickness can help.
