I noticed that C4D 2024 apparently only imports FBX as node material.
Sooner or later we need a way to convert node materials into octane materials.
Is there a solution for this.
This also applies to Redshift materials, as Redshift is being integrated deeper and deeper into C4D.

I have a similar issue which Im hoping to solve, I received a USDz file from client and it imports with node materials, the only way I can get to the textures is to load them into picture viewer and save them out that way, Is there a better way?
(Sorry I dont mean to hi-jack the thread, hopefully answers will help us both/ all!)

Thanks!

Why don't you ask to Maxon for importing these as the standard materials?

very simple. There will be no more standard material in the future.
Currently only for compatibility reasons.
maxon is already replacing the standard renderer with CPU Redshift.
They will never row back.
maxon clearly wants to move away from the old material system.

Very simple for you, not me! They makes dust and causes more extra work for us. It's like holding us back from our own works. Their 2024 update caused to spend a few months just for changing the plugin to able to compile it again.

I just wanted to answer your question. Sorry if this was misunderstood. But the fact is that Maxon fully relies on Redshift and adapts Cinema 4D to it. They also want to get closer to the workflows of modern renderers. The old Strandard material system has had its day.

It's not like Octane doesn't work anymore. It's just that I don't think you'll be able to use the material conversion at some point.

It already doesn't work for imports

I'm currently still working on the 2023 for the project, and it still works with FBX.

Old materials are still working in 2024 and you can import FBXs in 2023 and paste to 2024, isn't? Then Octane will recognize these. I'll try to find some time to convert these, but not a simple task and having our list.

Thank you aoktar, of course you make a awesome job on the octane plugin.
Of course, this workflow will work for the moment.
So, thank you again for your effort
