Hi all,
I'm very new to octane for blender and I'm trying to understand AOVs better. I notice that whenever I try the z-depth AOV, I don't get anything when I try to preview it. The other AOVs available seem to be working.
What I notice:
If the view port is not rendering and I set Preview Render Pass to Z-Depth, nothing happens and I wait forever with the "Waiting for image..." state
If I'm rendering a different render pass (say normal) and I switch to Z-Depth, status gets stuck with Waiting for image again.
I've also set up ACES for my octane. I'm not sure if it's breaking anything. I've tried disabling it and it still does not work. I'm attaching my blend file here, in case I'm doing something wrong.
By the way, I am following these tutorials to understand using AOVs:

Please do let me know if you need any further information about my set up. Thank you so much in advance for any help with this!
Regards,
Tim

Hi, for those who are not able to download the .blend, could you post screenshots of the scene + settings/setup?
Unless it's a bug, Z-Depth AOV should work if appropriately set according to the scene (it may appear black or white if "values" are not adjusted or the scene lacks "depth"). As a generic guide, check this.

It looks like ZDepth is not working correctly in the latest build. It simply doesn't work as long as the new Shared Surface option is on in the Octane addon preferences. We'll fix it, meanwhile, please just turn off Shared Surface for now.

Thank you for this workaround! It works now. Really appreciate this!
