Hi there,

i have a scene with an animated camera and an LED Display which is made with arrays and a replicator. In modo everything renders fine, but if I export the animation to orbx the replicator is rendered with motionblur too (looks like the LEDs are switching places and therefore are blurred). Is there a way to prevent the replicator from beeing rendered with motionblur?

Thank you in advance!

Edit: Rendering the Animation in Modo leads to a crash, so a solution would be great!

Hi

Exporting to ORBX is done by the Octane SDK, and it wraps up all the scene vertices every frame as save to an Alebic format file - so getting vertex motion blur on all objects is a byproduct of this, and hard (impossible?) to turn off, regardless of the export settings. You can set the Shutter Time to 0 to remove the motion blur (but then you loose the camera motion blur).
(looks like the LEDs are switching places and therefore are blurred)
Is this perhaps because the leds have a particle source?
Edit: Rendering the Animation in Modo leads to a crash, so a solution would be great!
Can you send me the scene please so I can see what is causing the crash?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

i can't send the scene because of NDA, but I try to replace the critical objects and hope the crashy nature of the scene will be preserved.

Yes it is a particle source with an animated particle item map. The particle count stays the same though. It would be great if particle item maps with correct motionblur would be possible.

To work around this I created two replicators and only scaled the particles, instead of removing particles or changing the prototypes. This lead to another issue:
If the scene is reloaded, everything works fine. But scrubbing the timeline or exporting to orbx leads to wrong particles. I recorded a video to make this clearer.

I hope you can do something about this.

Thank you in advance!

Hi. This scene crashes Modo16.0v4 when loading. Could it be the scene is corrupt?

I tried opening that first file in 16.0v3 and got a warning it was saved in a newer version of modo. What are you using?

Then there seems to be a plugin we are missing (shArrayPrint), but after skipping it nothing is loading for me. It seems to hang modo or something. Closing modo takes ages.

Hi Funk,

thank you for looking into this. First of all I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I accidentally used the current 16.1 RC and also used one of the Harry Array Nodes. I made a new File (16.03 and without the Harry Node). You might need to change the Font in the Textmeshop to make it work on your machine.

I am really sorry, but this is still crashing Modo when loading for me. It first gives a warning 'Unknown item type "shArrayPrint". Skip this type and continue loading?', and it crashes if I respond with "Yes to All"

That's very strange, because I removed the Node and tested with the plugin deactivated. But there is a workaround as the creator of the plugin pointed out: Instead of 'No' click 'cancel'. I hope that works.

The last file he uploaded loads fine here in 16.0v3 (no dialogs show up)

Delete all previous downloads and make sure you're loading the right file
