I managed to get Octane x working in r26 on an m1 macbook pro, though you have to jump through many hoops including disabling security in the terminal to allow the plugin to run, but now that I've updated to 2023 I've followed the same steps but the plugin dropdown for Octane is not appearing. Does anyone know how to get it to work in this latest version?
almost certainly a special compile for this version is needed to run it properly, maybe aoktar could jump in?
Specs: Apple MacBook Pro M1 max 64GB 2TB, MacOS 12.5 / MacPro 5,1 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8G, MacOS 10.13.6 / Mac Pro 5,1 with AMD RX5700 8G, MacOS 12.3.1 / HP Z600 with NVIDIA 3060 RTX 12G, Windows 10 pro + Netstor GPU box, 4 x NVIDIA GTX 980ti 6G.
Hi,
you need OctaneX 2022.1-XB3-R4 native for M1, to be able to work with C4D 2023:
https://render.otoy.com/plugindownloads ... R4_OSX.zip
For C4D 2023, you need to keep the R27.xlib file, and remove both R25 and R26.xlib files.
Note that you need to go to c4doctane Setting/Nodes, and disable the New style option, or material preview doesn't work in node editor: ciao,
Beppe

Hi Beppe,
I tried your link/directions above, but continue to get this error message:
There is no CUDA device which is selected...
Tried every combination of selecting the devices in Devices/Available devices settings, but always get the same error message.
Mac Pro (2019)
Processor 3.2 GHz 16-Core Intel Xeon W
Monterey 12.6.1
GPU: AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo 32 GB
Using the plugin in the link you provided (c4dOctane-R27.xlib), I tried to get this to work on C4D 2023.1.2, and then updated it to 2023.1.3
Also, i tried using (c4dOctane-R26.xlib) in the link you provided, with C4D R26.015, but i get the same problem.
Do you know what could be the problem, and how i can fix this?
Screengrabs attached.
Thank you,
-Dean

Hi Dean,
sorry, the linked version is outdated, now we are at 2022.1-R3:
https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloa ... OSX_m1.zip
But please consider that new versions are working only on Mac with Apple Silicon M1/M2 GPU.
Since your Mac is equipped with AMD GPU, you need to go back to C4D-OctaneX PR14 in C4D R26:
https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloa ... o_PR14.zip
For C4D S26, you need to keep the R25.xdlib file, and remove the other .xdlib unused files.
Please do not upgrade to macOS Ventura, since AMD GPUs are not supported.
ciao,
Beppe

Hey Beppe, thanks for this, it's working for me now in 2023.
Just a question, I'm only able to run octane in c4d on my mac by disabling the security in terminal, otherwise my mac won't run the plugin saying it can't be verified. Are there any plans to update the plugin so that macs recognise it as safe so I don't have to go through this process?

Great to hear it is working now in 2023!
Yes, plugin is not notarized, so you have that error message at first run, but normally, you shouldn't need to mess with terminal, but only allow the c4doctane plugin and library in System Preferences/Security and Privacy panel, and restart C4D a couple of times:

OctaneStudio+ is a new single, unified license for all paying subscribers (Windows, Osx, Linux).
No GPU limitations per machine (previously only available in Enterprise subs)
On OSX this does not work on any Mac equipped with AMD GPU
Am I right?

Yes, with Intel/AMD macs you still need to use OctaneX PR14 under macOS Monterey.
Please have a look at OctaneX compatibility chart here:
