Spotlight distribution

Hi,
How can i do that in lights? In c4d im using an OSL that octane has that i connect to light distribution.

In Houdini you can probably do the same if you edit the light shader available inside the Light OBJ HDA.

Similarly to this setup (Spotlight section).
Yes. Octane for Houdini is pretty much the same as Standalone.

My question is though why these parameters are not exposed and we have to dive inside lights?

You can just make your own light HDA and promote whatever parameter you want.

Why would i make my own light hda? There are should be more parameters exposed to users and not just to lights. This is a UI/UX thing as octane is super weird in H

Maybe it's weird for you but Octane Houdini works exactly like Standalone.
It's a lot easier and faster to just make your own hda than posting on the forum complaining.

I use octane for so many years. As i ve discussed this repeatedly a lot of people dont like octane in H how its layed out and where options are hidden etc.
Making custom HDAs is not my job.

The fact that u like using standalone represents 1% of octane users. Obviously in H plugin noone ever bothered to try and say what is wrong with its UI etc. as people give up and go to RS.
