Hej there,

i'm playing with the latest demo in Modo and wonder if there is a reason why i cant create a Layered Material.

The button is grayed out. Do i need to tick a checkbox first or something ?
(composit, mixer, shadowcatcher, standard surface, toon ramp, toonramp2, are gray too)

Diffuse Glossy hair for eg. working fine.

is it because the demo is only compatible with modo 15 ?
if so, will there be an update to 16 in the near future ?

win 11, 3070 with 512.59 installed, Modo 16.v01

[SOLVED]
The information on the website has been updated.
Materiality limitation has been added. Only Glossy, Diffuse, Specular and Universal Materials are available in the Demo version of the plugin.

The demo is intentionally limited to a few materials

Octane for modo is already compatible with modo 16

hej john,

ok so it's limited - but why dont you says so at your homepage.
at least there isnt a note on layered materials.

And it appears to be only compatible with Modo 15.

if you click on the modo icon even only with Modo 14.

Even in the forum there is no mention of Modo 16.

I know you have a lot of information to keep up to date.
But not being able to rely on the documentation is a real blocker. When I need to use the documentation/help and I don't know if it's right/wrong. How should I then know if it's a bug, limited function, my inability?

If I want to use Octane's rendering speed for more productivity and am being held back by the Flase documentation, there isnt really a point in switching.. right ?

i would be grateful if you revisit your docs and add missing information.
Regarding the demo, it would be great if the limitation of the material would be lifted, as it says on the site - because that would be one of the features we would have liked to test...

kind regards
