while having the ipr render active and opening orbx materials to edit I literally close my eyes and cross my fingers everytime i click 'edit orbx'.
Why hasn't this been fixed yet?
I've been complaining about it for over 2 years now.
Can't imagine I'm the only one having this problem.
Has been happening with maya 2020 and 2022

Thanks for the post.
we are unable to replicate this on our end.
Would you please share the scene file and the step to replicate this issue?

Shocked you haven't experienced this... if i have the live viewer running for a few minutes and open/close several orbx materials to edit... generally by the 6th material open I freeze/crash. Has been happening since maya 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 and now 2023.
Is there a log somewhere I can find/send to you?
Cheers

Hi Baxley,
It seems the crash might be related to something else and yes, we are still unable to reproduce Orbx material crash with the IPR active.
1. Please set the Textures resolution(px), Texture quality(ssp) and Swatch quality(ssp) to 1 from the RenderSetting dialog>Octane tab> Maya viewport default rollout.
2. Also, disable the Automatic swatch update in Hypershade if you are using it. Maya would enable the (click on-demand) to see the material update.
Usually, Maya would generate MayaCrashDump files if it crash under the C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Temp folder.
To generate octane_log.txt, copy the octane_log_flags.txt from the zipped file inside lib folder in Program files\OctaneRender for Maya\lib path. The octane_log.txt file can be found in the same temp directory.
Looking forward to hearing back!!
Cheers

Looks like changing those settings stoped crashes while opening orbx files. Thank you.
Bummer those settings are default.
Currently when i click on the world map with daylight environment... where i click on the map is never where the cursor actually goes. I also can't click/drag on the map to get the perfect setting like I can in standalone.
Is there some settings I can chance to fix this?
Thank you!

We are glad to know Maya stopped crashing after changing the above settings. Maybe it's related to our swatch preview generator.
The World map with daylight environment issue will take some time for us to investigate.
As a workaround, please use Calus' script from the link (viewtopic.php?p=356003#p356003)
Please note to create Environment>Daylight Environment and run the script or can save it in the Shelf using the MMB after highlighting the Mel script.

Would you please share a screenshot or a video?baxley wrote:Also, when rendering an image a tab briefly appears with the render aov's , other octane settings. However it disappears immediately and I can't seem to get it to stay visible to actually use it... any way I can fix this?
Thanks again!
