Hello!

First I want to say that I love the Composite Texture nodes in the node editor, it makes building materials a joy compared to before its introduction.

I have two questions/requests though:

1. Would it be possible to rename the individual Composite Texture Layer nodes?
Most other nodes can already be renamed (see the green highlighted parts in the attached screenshot), but the Composite Texture Layer nodes can not, as far as I can tell. (see red highlighted part in screenshot).
If it would be possible it would make editing much easier for me, as I could instantly tell what specific detail I'm working on without having to navigate back through the nodes to the original parts.

2. Would it be possible to add functionality to re-order the Composite Texture Layers with something like "move layer up/down" buttons? Right now you can of course manually disconnect and rewire them, but it's a little tedious.

Thank you in advance and kind regards
Andreas

To rename the Composite Texture node, just type in the new name in the Basic Tab > Name field of the node. The name of the node will then update. I am using 2021.1.1-R2 to verify.

Also, try the new Comment node that Ahmet added into the newest versions. It can help organize your node graphs.

Thanks for the reply jayroth!

Yes, it's possible to rename the Composite Texture node, but what I was referring to is the Composite Texture Layer nodes, you know, the yellow ones in which you control opacity, overlay modes etc. Those lack a Basic tab (at least in versions 2020.2.5R3 and 2021.1R2) but if that could be added it would be awesome. Would really cut down on scrolling around in the node editor to locate what component I am adjusting.

Will definitely check out the Comment nodes as well of course when those become available in stable builds, but it would still be preferable to add a Basic tab > Name field to the layer nodes.
