Hey Paul - is there any way to accomplish this in the MODO version? In C4D it looks like you can (for example) solo a noise node going into (for example) bump so you just see that noise output in the Octane viewer. MODO's preview can do something similar. It would be super helpful in everybody's workflow.

Great use of it in this tutorial:

Hi Greg

I love this workflow, and it's something I have been thinking about for a long time (for all my plugins). Originally I was looking at using the material preview to view individual nodes, however it is not stable with multithreaded environments, so the C4D solution is very good. Having said that, the Modo UI could present a challenge, as there is no a simple way to capture shift/alt/ctrl clicks of a schematic node. Instead, it would need to be a single button which enables "Solo mode" for the currently selected schematic node, and selected another node would then cancel "Solo mode". I will investigate more when I get a chance.

Hey Paul - I wonder if there's any sense in attempting to work more closely with the MODO devs to try and implement this (and other) features. With V-Ray gone and mPath a long ways off still, it would maybe behoove them to work with you on a tighter Octane integration.

i spend quite a lot of time soloing textures manually so agree this would be a great addition for sure

would this work, for ex soloing a Multiply texture?

so in this case i'd like to see the result of multiplying 2 textures together?

There is an experimental implementation of the Solo Node function in the next release of the plugin. It this stage it will just solo a "Texture" node, but additional features can be added to the functionality over time.

Thanks

Yes - it's the button below "Delete Unused Nodes" in the top left of the OctaneRender layout.

Thanks
