Hi,

Sorry!
I know that this has been already discussed and solved, but I can't remember.

How again please do I need to setup random color, so that the seed stays constant
and does not change, when I rerender a smaller part of the scene?

thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
are you talking about octane Material ID pass?
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=61646&p=330991&hil ... om#p331042

Or Cryptomatte?
https://docs.otoy.com/cinema4d/Cryptomatte.html
CRYPTOMATTE COLORS KEEP RANDOMLY CHANGING
Only the CryptoMaterialNodeName output is "session-stable," that is, consistent whenever renders are restarted, or files are reloaded, and rendering is continued. It is not uncommon to have to re-render elements from time to time, and only the Material Node Name will use the ID channel colors across sessions.

Hi Beppe,

excuse me I had confused that!
The post I meant was that one with crypotmatte, but I had another
prob with cloner and instances.

But I realized that the color seed changed because I had added objects
to the scene and when I rerendered a part, all colors changed.
So I had to render the whole sequence again

I think its not possible, that f.e. if you have 100 trees setup with random
color node and if you add one more (instance) tree to the scene the other 100 stays
the same and only the newly added tree gets a new color.

Hope you understand what I mean!

regards
Mike

Hi Mike,
I see, it could work with new materials, or objects, but not with new instances, it is a known limitation.
Cryptomatte passes are going to be revisited in the next core SDK, stay tuned.

ciao,
Beppe
