Hi Otoy,

I understand that its not recommended to do regular windows 10 updates. Can you please answer the following:

1. What are the cases in which you WOULD run a windows update?
2. Is there a Forum Topic that posts windows update
3. Windows only allows to postpone updates for a certain period of time. After that time it requires a restart and update. How do you get around this?
4. Can Otoy confirm if KB5004331 windows 10 is problematic?

Thank you!
Robert.

Hi Robert,
the only issue with Windows Updates is that Win 10 installs by default an Nvidia DCH driver version, so your system can update automatically the Nvidia driver and this is not good, and safe for GPU rendering.
But you can use DDU to completely remove the installed DCH drivers, and to remove the automatic Win 10 graphics driver update option :

In this way, you can install Standard versions of Studio Nvidia driver, instead of DCH, and perform any Win 10 update when asked, without changing the installed Nvidia driver.
The only caution is to close/deactivate any Octane related app, before running windows updates, or the licenses will be blocked, and you need to go to your OctaneLive page to manually unlock the licenses.

About KB5004331 windows 10 update, it could be necessary to repaire the Microsoft Visual Studio (Visual C++) 2015/2017/2019 installation:
