Hi there,
Just started with Octane and having quickly scanned the manual I can't find anything about how to add a background image other than the hdri which is obviously there by defualt.
I could I imagine do this i the comp if I set everything up in modo and export the scene but for stills it would be much easier in most instances to just bang in an obj and line the thing up in Octane.
Is there an option for this or doesn't it exist yet?
Cheers

Not possible yet. You can always composite in PS or similar though.

Bugger I assumed that was that case as I couldn't find it in any of the obvious places.
I'll have to set the entire scenes up in maya/modo then as I'll never get the cameras to match the back plate in octane.
A pain but hopefully they may add this in shortly.
Thanks for letting me know

... along with a shadow catching material for groundplanes, please.
Yes I definitely second that one! if we can't get the background images in we definitely need a shadow catcher in there.
For non Modo users the shadow catcher alphas out the ground plane other than the shadows leaving the object cleanly matted onto whatever you have set as your environment within the render, in the same way that bunkspeed does it. This is very handy for stills, not really usable for animation as the object generally look as if they're sliding through the env though.
