Map for Mix Material crash on Mix Node for Displacement

Before posting a bug report, please check the following:
1. That the issue has not already been disclosed
2. That the issue is specific to this plugin, and not Octane in general (Try reproducing it in Standalone)
Bugs related to the Octane Engine itself should be posted into the Standalone Support sub-forum.

All bug reports should include the information below, along with a detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce it.
A. Operating System, including version (i.e. Win 7, OSX 10.11.2, Ubuntu 14.04, etc.)
B. Graphics Card(s) model (i.e. GTX 580 - 3GB, TITAN, etc.)
C. RAM Capacity (i.e. 6 GB)
D. Nvidia driver version (i.e. 7.50, 7.5.22)
E. OctaneRender Standalone version, if installed (i.e. 2.24.2, 2.23, etc.)
F. OctaneRender plugin version (i.e. v2.25 - 2.21)
G. Host application version, including build number if available (i.e. 3ds Max 2016 Build 18.0)
H. A detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce it (Include Screenshots or video capture), as well as an example scene if applicable.
I. Copies of the Octane Log window and Console window outputs (full text attached as a file to your post is recommended).

Please note that reports of issues inside existing threads will be ignored/removed, and reports may be closed if the reporter does not respond to subsequent queries in the thread.

Hy Aoktar,

i have a Mix Material and a composited Mask to mix it. If i use this Mask for a Mix Node to mix the the displacements as well, Octane crashed.

WIN10, GPU 2 x 2080ti, 32GB RAM, Driver 461.72, Plugin C4D 2020.2.3-R3

If you wanna try it just connect the nodes like the Screenshot (only one ;)) already tried to bake it.

Its strange to me cause it work with the mix material but not for the mix node.

Hi,
have you tried with Vertex Displacement without Baking texture, instead of Texture Displacement + Baking texture?

For complex Displacement effects, it is far more stable and productive.
It can be used with both procedural, and texture image types, it does not have any projection limitation, so you can use the Border Mode to remove the Tiling effect, for example, it does not depends from image resolution and depth, but only in the number of subdivisions, and you can mix together any type of nodes and plug in it directly without need to use the Baking Texture node. Finally, it works correctly with Motion Blur, and it accelerated by RTX!

Hy Bepe,
yes it is set to Vertex Displacement.

The composited Mask works for the Mix Material but not for Mix Material Node. If i connect it to the Mix Material node octane crash.
Check the file.
Crash Log is in zip.

It's reproductable, but couldn't find yet the reason. Most likely about previews, also prefer to use composite material anymore. Mix materials are not safe as this.

Hy Aoktar,
recently i started using composite Material. in this case its the same. Crash :geek:

OFFTOPIC: Maybe its a good idea to add something like "legacy" to things that are old and should not used anymore. I think you let stuff like default diffuse material for backwards compatibility?

I know it's not a mix material issue right now.
Also I can't make it legacy without the same described as legacy in Standalone side. Just I'm warning about problems and better ways.

Yes youre right. i baked it just for testing the issue. See next post ;)

Yepp ok, thank you.

I use the Plugin terraform4d https://www.terraform4d.com/ this Plugin has a operator shader wich is very usefull for blending textures and also displacement. unfortunately i have some issues if i use it (thats why i tried to use manual created masks)

here you can see a test setup. do you see the issue? the displacement is mixed with the shader of terraform4d (round lines in mountain). Some guys told me the issue could be that the operator shader is not baked in 32bit? could that be possible?

Talking about grebble effect? 16/32 bit with gamma=1 is a must but this is having like an extra problem.
